THE DESIGN PROCESS—Branding

My why? I love to design—I love the creative process, the excitement of ideas, the hope my clients feel as it comes together, seeing fabulous ideas spark in a great collaboration—this is why my soul craves the outlet of designing.

What makes the process successful is having the right partnership. I’ve recently started asking, “Are we a good fit?” Most of the time we are but it is ok if we aren’t. It is ok to interview a creative professional, find out if our styles match, if we will be good collaborators, and if we just plain like each other. Below is my design process. Take a minute to scroll to see if this process works for you. If it does, then let’s schedule a consultation…quickly!

It’s not something “nice to have”, it’s a MUST HAVE to attain success in the digital and social world we live in today!

01: Let’s introduce ourselves.

  1. Yeah! You have looked at my work and you think we may be a good fit. Fill out the contact form and choose a time to chat. This is a no-strings opportunity to discuss your business needs.

02.

Branding begins with self-discovery, which includes brainstorming, defining and gathering, so that’s exactly where I will begin with your journey.

  1. During our scheduled zoom meeting, I will start the discovery process by asking you questions like, what is important to you, why do you do what you do, how do you set yourself above the competition? You can download my brand workbook, “The Discovery Phase, Get to Know your Business” to help navigate through these questions.

  2. I will gush over how fabulous you are if you have created a Pinterest board with visual eye-candy to show the direction you would like to go with your brand. This board can be anything that represents you or your client . . . vacation locations, stationery, fonts, colors, fashion…this will help me determine mood and personality.

  3. One-hour session of discovery (well, we shoot for an hour but I am a talker so you may want to schedule 1.5 hours). In this session we will also determine which team members you may need for your branding—copywriting to determine brand voice or tag lines; photography; print collateral and more—After this session, I will create your personalized package and send an estimate for you to review.

03. On Boarding.

  1. Once the estimate is approved, we will start the on-boarding process. This includes a deposit, a production schedule specifically for your project that includes milestones to keep everyone on track, signing contracts, and a welcome package.

  • A typical comprehensive brand package is estimated to take 5-8 weeks with a lot of collaboration with the team.

A branding package is much more than graphics, fonts, and colors. I evaluate your business, customers, and competitors to create the perfect identity that will bring success for your business and allow you to stand out in a crowded marketplace.

04. Design Strategy and Planning

  1. I will create a strategy of imagery, fonts, content for you to review. Once this strategy is approved, I will present two really strong design concepts. Because you are a partner in this collaboration it usually only takes two concepts and proofs to have it finalized.

  2. I will create a brand style guide that showcases all of your elements with examples of usage. This is the most exciting part watching it all come to life.

05. Not quite done...Next Steps!

Now that your brand is effective, beautiful, and has a purpose, we need to design your web site. This is your number one selling platform even if you don’t have an e-commerce site.

Let’s review how the website process works
